The Impact

As mentioned earlier, the project initiators Dr. Gediminas Mikulėnas experience of heart attack, gave him the idea to initiate the project. ‘I thought, if I was warned about an impending heart attack, the risk and damage could have been limited or prevented. Therefore, I had this idea to help others who might one day be in my stead’. The project only required the knowledge in electrocardiography, textiles, hardware and software development, and business management. The project initiator, Mikulėnas, G, wrote a PhD thesis about the ‘Recognition of biosignals on the basis correlation analysis‘, which contributed to elaborating ideas and the final result.

Also, he was a founder of Foritas, UAB, the most technologically advanced laundry service company in the Baltic States based on green-field investment; worked in compliance with quality management ISO 9001, ISO 9002 standards; Furthermore, since its establishment 55 new jobs have been created.  The Foritas company project was successfully presented by Dr. Mikulėnas to the Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI) and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) on May 2010. Simultaneously, by that time, he provided laundry services as an outside independent expert to Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kaunas Clinics. His key responsibilities were launching the business, focusing on the processes management, and innovation. Thereafter, he made an agreement with Lithuanian University of Health Sciences as an independent scientist, and remains to work there to this day. The team of young and energetic field professionals came to his assistance in generating ideas. Dr. Mikulėnas successfully presented his project to Lithuanian University of Health Sciences board and Herzinstitut Berlin, which improvements and processes are now still under the development.
